Post graduated in M.Sc & M.L.I.Sc. from Karnatak University, Dharwad and started Library profession at “The British Library”, Bangalore. Worked as “Media Librarian” for “In-Bangalore” Network channel, Bangalore. During 1996 he joined the Department of Library & Information Science , Karnatak University as Lecturer elevated as Associate Professor in 2007 and promoted as Professor during 2013.
He is associated with 20 Universities in India as a member of BOS and BOE. He worked as Joint Secretary, IATLIS and active life member of many LIS Professional associations like Indian Library Association, Society for Information Science, Karnataka State Library Association(KALA), Vidyavardak Sangaha Dharwad etc . From Aug 2007 to May 2009, he served as Assistant Director (Addl. Charge) for UGC-Academic Staff College, Karnatak University. Dr.Naik completed one UGC Major project (6 lakhs ) to his credit and also helped several principal Investigators to complete their projects. He has contributed more than 60 research papers /articles to the reputed national and international journals, and attended several national and International conferences/seminars and workshops.
He is a regular Resource person for Karnataka State government training programs for Government sector officials at Dharwad and at Bangalore in the area of implementation of Digital libraries ,paperless offices ,digitalization ,software usages etc. His area of specialization is Information Retrieval, Repackaging and Consolidation.
He is a known Resource person for Indira Gandhi National Open University , Kuvempu University and KSOU distance education programme. He is actively involved in the preparation of Course materials for M.L.I.Sc courses of these universities. , Presently five scholar obtained their doctoral degree & five research scholars are working for Ph.D under his guidance.
